Beautiful Moths

Illustrated in this book are nearly 100 moths, whose beautiful colouring competes easily with that of their better-known relatives, the butterflies. Indeed, there are many more species of moths than butterflies, and they can be found almost everywhere: on arid plains, high up in the mountains, in fields and forests, in houses and even in bees' nests! Mostly they fly by night rather than by day, and at dusk you can see them setting out in search of food.
Shown here are species from all over the world, from the common varieties you might find in your back garden, to the most exotic and rare species that are only to be found in the tropical jungles of South America and Madagascar. They may measure from less than inch to more than 10 inches. across the wing span.
F. Procházka's superb colour plates show us the magnificent appearance of these insects, and Dr. Moucha's text describes their life histories, structures and special characteristics.
