Why a webstore of one persons books?

It is a collection of scientific books of Dr LJ & VC Neethling that is so extensive that it warrants a bookstore dedicated to their collection. This is a work in progress comprising of at least 300 books - they will slowly be added along with the digital copy of each book.

More than just selling online books

Each book is scanned

These books are precious to own physically, for as the years pass, less are in circulation. Tragically, the fire at UCT has taken more of these books out of circulation for ever.
To preserve these books for the distant future, we are not just offering you the book when you buy it, but also a password protected scanned copy with the book that you buy. Only after buying the book will you receive the key to unlock the securely encrypted digital copy, and agree to comply with any copyright restrictions that may apply to the specific book you have bought. You may choose NOT to receive the password to open the files.
To make it clear, to get the scanned copy, you HAVE to buy the book, and you have to comply with the copyright provisions of the book you are buying.

Is there a digital copy out there?

We will do the heavy lifting and show you if the book is available in any of the world archives of:

hathitrust.org
nlsa.ac.za
worldcat.org

Regardless of there being a copy out there already, we will provide you with the scanned copy of the book YOU are buying, and making sure any colour images are captured. Very few of of the books here are still in current circulation, and for those, scanned copies will not be available as there is no archival value in providing that. Check the description of each book.

We have around 900 books to catalogue and scan, so every week you will see more added. We are adding randomly selected books, so keep checking back here, you never know when the gem you have been looking for will be added.

There are many book stores out there, and some have been around for decades, accumulating huge collections and really know "their stuff". Here, this is not just about selling the book, it is also about preserving it in digital form forever.
Here, we will receive your book, give it a unique stock code, scan it, make it available on this store and other book commerce sites in the world.
You can agree with us to receive a % of the sale price when the book is sold.
Clearly we reserve the right to choose which books we are prepared to offer on this site, as we will be scanning every book, so they must have significant value, like other books you already see listed here.
